  • Cheers to Freddy Heineken, as today would be his 100th birthday! Here are three facts about Freddy that still inspire us to this day:

    1. Freddy introduced the Heineken® green-coloured label and the smiling ‘e’ font.
    2. He earned Advertiser of the Year at Cannes ’95 and Advertiser of the Century in the Netherlands ’99.
    3. The WoBo (short for World Bottle) is another great example of Freddy’s many innovative ideas – Once, when Freddy celebrated his holiday on a Caribbean beach, he discovered two local problems: empty bottles and a lack of building materials. So Freddy invented a ‘beer brick’: a right-angled bottle which, when emptied, could be reused in housebuilding.
